The Civil Liberties brigade have  ludite tendencies toward the new technologies and our politician’s with a watchful eye on the populist vote, are the  unwitting, unknowing partners in crime. They are collectively  putting the UK into both the third world in hyperspace  and sadly lacking in the  cost effective use of the new technologies, which if properly applied would significantly reduce governmental over employment and waste.

The Internet, The network is really profound and it is entirely correct to think long and hard  about who really controls the network and the data contained within but at present  we are giving far too much  information and power to the machine and others unknown without any real understanding of the basics and with no meaningful or honest oversight.
The UK Government, a coalition of “we get it politicians” have made THIS  CRAZY, unbelievable decision.
The data/the information is up there, it is all a question of who complies it and who harvests it,  with IE6 underpinning our governments strategic defence,  we are deep trouble and your  civil liberties are fast becoming completely irrelevant as some of  those who can freely harvest that data dont give a dam about your civil liberties and are not answerable to the Geneva convention, the European court of human rights or even the local county court.

In THIS post I was urging people who dont really understand all this stuff to use FIREFOX, a year later  I can also  highly recommend Google Chrome but I would add that IMHO it is still in BETA and is not quite the slick experience that I am looking for. Anybody who is doing online banking in ANY version of IE,  who isnt a bit geegky, might just as well keep a spare front door key under the matt, a few thousand quid under the mattress  and leave your Citreon unlocked overnight with you IPAD on the back seat,  it is only a matter of time before your complete purchasing profile, medical history , personal fetishes , illegal thoughts and financial information are HARVESTED and compiled by many.

GOOGLE chrome will provide you with a much much more secure INTERFACE to do your financial transactions, FIREFOX  is good and definitely safer than IE but you have to watch the plug-ins that you have installed and enabled.

BOB the big old battery in Texas, however primitive, it signposts the future with ever increasing and ever more efficient energy  storage. Stored energy is the keyword for the new decade, Hybrid and energy converters are the new technology, E=mc² equates to a lot of energy in our universe yet we are in the midst of an energy crisis, I think not…….the race is on, a new century a new technology.

Being in the front line to a bemused public who don’t understand why this cranky old geek is telling them that Microsoft’s “jack of all trades and master of none approach” is part of the reason that they are paying me to dig them out of the mess they now find themselves in, so if you don’t believe me, Listen to the experts and download firefox.

Bill Gates is great, Microsoft is not.
